Microsoft flags Windows Server 2022 mainstream support ending and urges upgrade to 2025
Microsoft says Windows Server 2022 will reach end of mainstream support on Oct 13, 2026 and enter extended support through Oct 14, 2031, with security updates continuing at no extra cost. Administrators are advised to upgrade to Windows Server 2025 (GA’d in 2024) for ongoing mainstream support, with Windows Server 2025’s end of support on Nov 13, 2029 and extended support through Nov 14, 2034. A free 180‑day Windows Server 2025 trial is available for testing; additional notes include extended hotpatching for Datacenter: Azure Edition to Oct 2027 and other related OS timelines.
