Defected Russian Pilot Found Dead in Spain: Ukraine Updates

A Russian pilot who defected to Ukraine six months ago has been found dead in Spain, while Russian forces reclaimed a Ukrainian bridgehead on the Moscow-occupied side of the Dnipro river. Russian president Vladimir Putin said that Russian troops should build on their battlefield successes in Ukraine after Kyiv's forces withdrew from the strategic eastern city of Avdiivka. Additionally, a survey found that the majority of Ukrainian refugees and internally displaced people would like to return home, and Ukraine reported that a Russian drone attack killed five people in the northeastern region of Sumy. Meanwhile, Sweden announced it would give $682 million in military aid to Ukraine, and Ukraine's Prime Minister called for fresh sanctions on Russia following the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
