EU's Five Principles for Gaza's Post-War Future: Aid Increase and Alternative Delivery Routes

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has proposed five principles for the future of the Gaza Strip, including the end of Hamas rule and the lifting of the blockade. She emphasized the need for a viable Palestinian state and expressed concern over the dire humanitarian situation. The EU has adopted a joint position supporting Israel's right to self-defense but also called for humanitarian corridors and pauses to deliver aid. Von der Leyen announced additional humanitarian aid and a plan for a maritime corridor. The EU's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, warned that the conflict is the last chance for a two-state solution and urged Israel not to be blinded by rage. He also cautioned against framing global issues as the West against the rest.
