The Dark Side of Russia's Energy Trade: Funding War and Raising Spill Fears.
The US has dealt a blow to Russia's "shady" fleet, which finances Moscow's war in Ukraine, by blocking access to Russian oil at various ports around the world. The Club of American Insurers refused to provide services to the Indian company Gatik Ship Management, which has become the largest carrier of oil from Russia. Without insurance, tankers will not be able to enter certain ports and straits, leading to a decrease in Moscow's income and a depreciation of the ruble on international markets. This, in turn, threatens Russia's military-industrial complex, which is already facing a crisis due to a lack of technology, delays in supplies of raw materials, and de-motivation of employees.
