The Growing Nuclear Threat: Putin's Plan and Global Security.

Former US Ambassador to Ukraine, Steven Pifer, has called Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus "even a bit pathetic" and said it won't increase the military threat to Ukraine or NATO. Pifer noted that the deployment could be in response to the arrival of Leopard tanks in Ukraine or the failure of Russian forces in Bakhmut. The White House has not seen any reason to adjust its own strategic nuclear posture nor any indications that Russia is preparing to use a nuclear weapon.
