"US Surges in Approval Ratings as China's Popularity Plummets, Poll Reveals"

A survey by the Pew Research Centre reveals that the United States is viewed more positively than China across 24 countries, with a median of 59 percent of the public having a positive opinion of the US compared to 28 percent for China. The gap between the two countries has widened since the election of US President Joe Biden. The biggest gaps in positive sentiment were found in Japan, South Korea, and Poland. Confidence in Biden's leadership was expressed by 54 percent of respondents, while only 19 percent expressed confidence in Chinese President Xi Jinping. Public opinion towards both countries deteriorated in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but sentiment towards the US improved significantly after Biden's inauguration.
