Approximately 2,000 US troops have been placed on prepare-to-deploy orders in response to the Israel-Hamas conflict. The troops would potentially be sent to a nearby country to support Israel in its war against Hamas, rather than directly to Israel or Gaza. The US has also deployed the USS Dwight D.
