Man's conviction for international hit team role upheld by Supreme Court.

The US Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a man serving a life sentence for his role in an international "kill team" in the Philippines. The man's lawyers had asked for a new trial, arguing that he was convicted on the basis of a confession from another man with whom he was on trial. However, the Supreme Court ruled that prosecutors had done enough to protect the defendant's rights, as the confession was altered to substitute "someone" or "the other person" every time the defendant's name was mentioned, and the jury was told not to consider the confession in assessing the defendant's guilt.
