US Fighter Jets Retaliate, Striking Iran-Linked Sites in Syria and Gaza

The United States conducted airstrikes on two sites in eastern Syria used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in an effort to degrade ammunition supplies of Iranian-linked militias. The strikes were aimed at disrupting the ability of these militia groups to carry out future attacks and to deter further aggression. The US also imposed sanctions on a Hamas official based in Iran and members of the IRGC. The Biden administration has vowed to target the finances of Hamas and is urging Iran to work towards the unconditional and immediate release of hostages held in Gaza.
