SDNY Indicts Iranian-Iraqi National for Material Support and Global Terrorism Plots

An eight-count SDNY indictment charges Mohammad Baqer Al-Saadi, a dual Iranian-Iraqi national, with conspiring to provide material support to Iran’s IRGC and Kata’ib Hizballah and with coordinating roughly 18–20 attacks across Europe and the United States, including an attempted assault on a New York synagogue; Al-Saadi was detained abroad and later transported to the U.S. for questioning and prosecution, where prosecutors say he led operations and media/psychological warfare for the ‘resistance.’
