G7 considers new sanctions on Russia over Ukraine and diamond exports.

G7 leaders are meeting in Hiroshima, Japan, to discuss tougher sanctions against Russia, including tighter enforcement and a range of new measures on goods, such as Moscow's roughly $5 billion annual trade in diamonds. The leaders are also expected to discuss China's "economic coercion" and ways to reduce their strategic dependence on imports from Beijing. The summit will also cover matters of defense, clean energy, cybersecurity, and semiconductors.
