More than 19,000 Ukrainian minors have been taken by Russia during the war, with some testifying on Capitol Hill about their experiences. The charity Save Ukraine has rescued 232 children and highlighted the need for ongoing American aid to provide recovery, housing, food, and health for these kids who have suffered traumas. The displaced children were subjected to reeducation and attempts to erase their Ukrainian identity, with some being separated from their siblings and placed with Russian families. Ukrainian officials believe the number of abducted children is likely higher and consider the practice to be crimes against humanity.
