NFL keeps Super Bowl LXII date flexible amid 18-game scheduling talks
The NFL has not set a firm date for Super Bowl LXII in Atlanta, arguing that flexibility remains as the league weighs the potential shift to an 18-game season by 2027. NFL executive Peter O’Reilly said the lack of a specific date isn’t unusual, and, depending on whether the league moves to 17 or 18 games (and how many byes are used), the 2028 Super Bowl could fall in a window from Feb. 13–27. A decision on the 17 vs 18-game format is expected around Week 1 of the 2027 season, in coordination with the new NFL Players Association leadership.
