Americans' Frustrations with Housing Market Impact Economic Outlook, Survey Reveals
Frustrations over the housing market in the United States are spilling over into Americans' perception of the overall economy, according to a survey by Fannie Mae. The survey found that 85% of respondents believe it is a bad time to purchase a house due to high home prices and mortgage rates, while 78% said the economy is on the wrong track. The majority of respondents blamed inflation for their negative outlook. Rising mortgage rates and limited inventory are also hindering home sales and keeping prices high, exacerbating affordability challenges.
