$500M Nord Yacht Transits Strait of Hormuz Linked to Russia's Richest Man
Nord, a 465‑foot luxury yacht valued at over $500 million and linked to Russia’s wealthiest man, Alexei Mordashov, left Dubai and passed through the Strait of Hormuz—one of the few private vessels to do so since the war began—without Iran or the U.S. objecting, and arrived in Muscat, Oman. The passage comes as the strait remains largely closed to commercial traffic; Mordashov has Western sanctions tied to Russia’s war in Ukraine. The vessel, reportedly registered to a firm owned by Mordashov’s wife, features two helicopter pads, an 80‑foot pool, gym, cinema, jacuzzi and a submarine, with space for 36 guests and 42 crew.
