Venice Festival Scraps Jury Presser Amid Political Pressure
The Venice Film Festival has cancelled its traditional opening jury press conference, citing a scheduling conflict, and will instead host a welcome cocktail hour for journalists. This decision comes amid heightened political tensions, following an open letter from prominent artists urging the festival to take concrete action in support of Palestine. The festival’s lineup is described as its 'most political' in recent years, featuring films on war and immigration, while the jury includes Kaouther Ben Hania, whose previous work focused on Gaza.
