Virgin Galactic Names First Delta-Class Spaceplane 'Apeiron' Ahead of New Mexico Transfer
Virgin Galactic has officially named its first next-generation spaceplane 'Apeiron,' derived from the Greek word for 'boundless.' The name was selected via a global public vote involving participants from 83 countries. On October 28, 2026, the vehicle is scheduled to be ferried from its Mesa, Arizona, manufacturing facility to Spaceport America in New Mexico for final avionics validation. This move marks the transition from manufacturing to flight testing, with commercial operations expected to resume in early 2027.
