macOS 28 drops encrypted HFS+ support, prompting decrypt or reformat to APFS

Apple’s macOS 28 will drop support for encrypted Mac OS Extended (HFS+) volumes, so encrypted HFS+ drives must be decrypted or reformatted to APFS to continue functioning. Unencrypted HFS+ volumes remain supported. Users should back up data first and can either decrypt and then convert to APFS or reformat the drive to APFS (Encrypted or not) via Disk Utility; note that encrypted Time Machine backups aren’t covered by this guidance.

KDE Linux Adds APFS Support and AMDGPU Freeze Workaround

KDE Linux now provides Apple APFS read/write support via a DKMS module (linux-apfs-rw-dkms) pre-installed for easier access to data from macOS devices. It also includes a workaround for a long-standing AMDGPU freeze issue by setting amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 to disable panel self-refresh (with slightly higher power usage). Additionally, Kup is added as KDE's backup tool and Flatpak language support is expanded as part of broader KDE Plasma improvements.
