KDE Plasma 6.8 Adds Intel Xe System Monitor Support; 6.7 Brings Extensive Crash Fixes

KDE Plasma 6.8 will add Intel Xe graphics support to the System Monitor and widgets, addressing Xe driver integration. Plasma 6.7 improves stability with multiple crash fixes (including issues when plugging/unplugging displays, installing Flatpak apps from .flatpakref, and Weather widget checks) and KWin memory-leak fixes. KDE Linux Adds APFS Support and AMDGPU Freeze Workaround

KDE Linux now provides Apple APFS read/write support via a DKMS module (linux-apfs-rw-dkms) pre-installed for easier access to data from macOS devices. It also includes a workaround for a long-standing AMDGPU freeze issue by setting amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 to disable panel self-refresh (with slightly higher power usage). Additionally, Kup is added as KDE's backup tool and Flatpak language support is expanded as part of broader KDE Plasma improvements.

NVIDIA GeForce NOW Goes Native on Linux as a Flatpak App

NVIDIA has released a native Linux GeForce NOW client as a Flatpak, officially supported on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS+ (x86_64 only at launch) and distributed from NVIDIA.com (not Flathub). The app provides access to 4,500+ games with Free, Performance, and Ultimate tiers; hardware requirements include H.264/H.265 Vulkan Video support, with NVIDIA GPUs on X.Org and Mesa 24.2+ on Wayland for Intel/AMD.
