Tragedy Strikes as Asylum Seekers' Boat Sinks Near Canary Islands
As many as 39 asylum seekers drowned after their boat sank near the Canary Islands, with last year seeing over 500 deaths along the Atlantic route to Spain. In Pakistan, seven people have been arrested for sharing responsibility for the deaths of up to 700 migrants who drowned after their overcrowded fishing vessel sank off the coast of Greece.
