"Rare 'Aurora Curls' Captured as Magnetic Wave Resonates in Earth's Atmosphere"

Astrophotographer Jeff Dai captured stunning images of extremely rare "aurora curls" in the night sky above Iceland, caused by vibrations in Earth's magnetic field triggered by solar particles. These luminous squiggles are a rare, highly organized version of auroras, resulting from massive ripples in the magnetosphere known as ultra-low frequency (ULF) waves. The sun's upcoming solar maximum may lead to more frequent sightings of these mesmerizing aurora curls.
