US Gas Prices Dip Below $4 a Gallon, Barely
US regular gas prices slipped below the $4 mark for the first time since March, with the national average at $3.999 per gallon (down about 3 cents from yesterday, according to AAA). Indiana has the cheapest state average at $3.40, and 28 states are under $4; GasBuddy pegs the national figure near $3.98. The decline comes as the Strait of Hormuz is set to reopen, easing supply fears from the Iran–US conflict. Still, analysts say prices aren’t expected to fall to pre-war levels of about $3 soon due to disrupted oil production and refinery outages, and pump prices could rise again this summer; a return below $3 is unlikely in the near term.
