"Community Efforts Boost Breast Cancer Awareness and Research Funding"
Utah County's health department organized a breast cancer awareness fair to promote their free cancer screening programs and increase mammography rates in the state. The screenings are available year-round for breast and cervical cancer, regardless of insurance status, and cover additional procedures like biopsies. The fair also provides resources for low-income residents, including Spanish-speaking nurses and information on kidney disease, vision, glucose levels, blood pressure, community health, and domestic violence. Women are encouraged to get yearly mammograms starting at age 40 for early detection and better treatment outcomes.
