Omaha identifies suspect in six-hour barricade tied to Von Maur incident
Omaha police identified 40-year-old Raynard Bass as the suspect in a six-hour barricade that began with a Von Maur shoplifting call; after fleeing, Bass hid in a north Omaha home, prompting a shelter-in-place in the neighborhood. SWAT and Crisis Negotiators secured the scene, and K-9 Kano located Bass in a wall; the dog was treated and survived after CPR. Bass was taken into custody with a taser after resisting, and he faces multiple charges including a felony domestic violence warrant, shoplifting and weapons offenses, while residents were unharmed and the investigation continues.
