Neuralink has selected the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, as the initial site for testing its brain-implant device, with the first participant, Noah Arbaugh, successfully undergoing the procedure in January. The technology, known as a brain-computer interface, aims to translate brain signals into commands for controlling external devices, with the goal of enabling individuals with paralysis to use a cursor or keyboard with their thoughts. The study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the device and is open to adults with quadriplegia due to spinal cord injury or ALS. Neuralink plans to provide updates on the study's progress and future participants.
