Bassem Youssef's Superman Role Controversy: The Inside Story
Filmmaker James Gunn clarified that comedian Bassem Youssef was not dropped from the upcoming Superman movie due to his comments about the Israel-Hamas conflict, as Youssef had suggested. Gunn endorsed an article stating that Youssef was never offered the role of dictator Rumaan Harjavti and that the script had been changed before Youssef's controversial interview. Youssef and Gunn have since reconciled, with Gunn explaining the situation to Youssef. The movie, Superman: Legacy, is set to launch the new DC Universe in 2025.
