UK Job Satisfaction Hits Record Low as Pay and Flexibility Gaps Widen
UK worker satisfaction has fallen to its lowest level since 1989, with 74% of employees reporting satisfaction in 2025, down from 81% in 2015. The Resolution Foundation attributes this decline to a widening gap between worker expectations for pay and flexibility and their actual experiences. While 78% of workers prioritize high income, only 23% feel their current jobs provide it. Similarly, 61% value flexible hours, but just 31% can control their schedules. This 'dissatisfaction drain' is linked to reduced willingness to work extra hours and may be contributing to persistent issues in British productivity and labor mobility.
