A live-action Broken Sword movie is in development from Revolution Software, Story Kitchen and writer Evan Spiliotopoulos, with Revolution’s Charles Cecil and Noirin Carmody producing. The film aims to translate the mystery-adventure game’s ecclesiastical conspiracy across Europe to the screen, leveraging the franchise’s three-decade legacy and recent remake efforts like Smoking Mirror Reforged.
Revolution Software announced a remastered version of the classic point-and-click adventure game Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror, titled Reforged, set to release in early 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, featuring enhanced graphics, audio, and gameplay options, with a Kickstarter campaign upcoming.
Classic adventure game series Broken Sword is making a comeback with a sixth installment, titled Broken Sword - Parzival's Stone, and a 4K remaster of the original game, The Shadow of the Templars. Both games are being developed for console, mobile, and Windows PC. Parzival's Stone will reintroduce 3D graphics to the series, while the remaster of the first game will feature updated visuals, audio, and gameplay improvements. If successful, the studio plans to remaster the second game, The Smoking Mirror, using the same techniques.
