Authorities in Burke County, North Carolina, arrested Nohsher Chiah after a 30-mile police chase. Chiah, wanted for possession of a firearm as a felon, fled when spotted near Conover in a minivan, reaching speeds over 100 mph on Interstate 40 before being apprehended on Byrd Road. Chiah claimed he needed to come to Burke County because that's where the charges were from. No injuries were reported during the pursuit.
A 27-year-old woman, identified as Hannah Maria Walker, died after suffering from an asthma attack while in the water at Lake James near the Canal Bridge Boat Access in Burke County, North Carolina. Witnesses said the victim jumped into the water and began to feel sick after a few minutes. Her fiancé tossed her an inhaler while she was still in the water, but her condition worsened, and she suddenly went unconscious. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead. The incident remains an active investigation by the Burke County Sheriff's Office.
