
Uncovering the Secrets of Ultramassive Stars in Ancient Star Clusters
A new study published in Astronomy & Astrophysics suggests that globular clusters might form in a way similar to galaxies, with supermassive stars as the seeds. The study looked at a high redshift globular cluster known as GN-z11 and found it to be a dense cluster of stars active with star production, with a high relative abundance of nitrogen. This suggests that the stars of a globular cluster might not form from a single large molecular cloud, but rather from the remnants of earlier supermassive stars.
