New Moon Night Reveals Comet Tempel 2 for Skywatchers Tonight
Tonight (July 14, 2026) may be the best chance to spot Comet 10P/Tempel 2 since the new moon dims skyglow; look an hour after sunset toward the southern sky near Capricornus with binoculars or a telescope, as the comet is not visible to the naked eye and appears as a small fuzzy glow with a short tail in dark-sky locations; Tempel 2 visits the inner solar system about every 5½ years and is roughly 10 kilometers wide.
