Eight wounded in Brooklyn July 4 barbecue shooting; four kids among victims
Eight people were wounded, including four children aged 6, 7, 12 and 14, when a gunman opened fire at a July 4 barbecue in Brooklyn’s Coney Island, then fled. A TEC-9-style firearm and shell casings were recovered; victims range from critical to stable, and no arrests have been made while investigators look for a possible nexus to a recent gang-related homicide on the same block. In a separate incident overnight, a Crown Heights detective was shot but not seriously injured.
