Director David Lowery says Mother Mary, starring Anne Hathaway, draws a Taylor Swift–like pop icon in the future, using Swift’s Reputation era as a budgeting and staging guide for the film’s concert sequences.
David Lowery's version of "Peter Pan & Wendy" is a humanizing interpretation of J.M. Barrie's classic tale that speaks more to the inner child of jaded adults than to actual kids. The film grounds the fundamental wistfulness of the original story with empathetic backstories and takes care to remedy the original's overt racism and latent sexism. Lowery and his co-writer Toby Halbrooks have created a fairytale of the present and for the future, diversifying the mythic leader's ragtag group and developing the indigenous people of Neverland into more realized characters.
The first trailer for David Lowery's upcoming Disney+ movie "Peter Pan & Wendy" has been released, featuring Jude Law as Captain Hook and some twists to the original story. The film was mostly filmed on a real island and a real flying pirate ship, and will be available to stream on Disney+ on April 28.
