Winamp is being revived in 2027 as a new app that combines Deezer's streaming tech and catalog via a white-label partnership, adding a premium subscription alongside local files, Internet radio, podcasts and cloud libraries, while the original Winamp remains available; pricing and platform details are still to be announced.
Deezer has launched an AI music detector that can scan playlists across 20 platforms (including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud and YouTube Music), import your library via Tune My Music, and flag AI-generated content with share options—a move after rivals didn’t license the tech, now available to users on any service.
Deezer reports AI-generated music has surged to about 75,000 tracks per day (over 2 million per month), making up 44% of all new uploads, while AI streams remain only 1-3% of total plays and about 85% of those are fraudulent and demonetized; Deezer has stopped storing hi‑res AI tracks, expanded platform-wide AI detection (and licensed the tech to others), and says it can identify 100% of AI content from leading models, having tagged over 13.4 million AI tracks in 2025, as industry debates how to protect artists’ rights and ensure transparency, with peers like Apple Music and Spotify pursuing disclosure standards rather than detection.
Deezer reports about 75,000 daily AI-generated song submissions, roughly 44 percent of all uploads, yet AI tracks drive only 1–3 percent of streams as the service demonetizes AI music, labels AI-made tracks, and calls for industry transparency while rivals pursue their own AI policies.
Deezer reports that about 44% of new uploads are AI-generated (roughly 75,000 AI tracks daily), but AI streams account for only about 1–3% of listening because roughly 85% are demonetized as fraudulent; the company’s AI-detection tech has a false-positive rate under 0.01%, and AI tracks are excluded from recommendations. A survey found 97% of listeners can’t reliably tell AI from human-made songs, underscoring labeling challenges in the growing AI-music space.
Deezer reports that nearly 28% of daily uploaded tracks are fully AI-generated, with over 30,000 such tracks received daily, though they constitute only 0.5% of streams. The platform is actively filtering out AI content from recommendations and playlists to minimize its impact, amid concerns about fraudulent activity and copyright issues. Deezer's efforts include AI detection tools and transparent tagging, as the industry grapples with the rise of generative AI in music.
Deezer is now flagging albums with AI-generated songs to combat streaming fraud, as the platform sees a rapid increase in AI-created music used to fraudulently earn royalties, with about 18% of daily uploads being fully AI-generated, raising concerns about industry-wide impacts and the need for transparency.
