Gillum drug arrest marks another setback for ex-Florida governor hopeful
Former Democratic rising star Andrew Gillum, who came within about 33,000 votes of defeating Ron DeSantis in the 2018 Florida governor’s race, was arrested in Daphne, Alabama last week on unlawful possession of a controlled substance and marijuana charges after police found a glass pipe, rolled marijuana cigarettes, and meth in his car. TMZ first reported the incident. Gillum has faced past troubles, including a 2020 hotel incident and a 2022 federal indictment on conspiracy and wire fraud, making this latest arrest another blow to his political trajectory.
