A tornado believed to be at least EF-2 struck Homewood, Flossmoor, Thornton and Glenwood before veering into Northwest Indiana; CBS News reports it was rain-wrapped and difficult to see, with no fatalities reported by 2:30 p.m. Homewood’s village hall lost power and about 69% of Homewood customers were without power, with roughly 300,000 customers without power region-wide. The 183rd Street and Dixie Highway viaducts were flooded and several roads were closed as emergency crews assessed damage. This marks the second tornado in less than a month for the area, following an EF-1 tornado on July 27.
