Lilly’s amylin-tirzepatide combo and retatrutide set new benchmarks for weight loss
Eli Lilly has advanced two major obesity treatments: a new amylin-tirzepatide combination and the triple-agonist retatrutide. The combination therapy achieved up to 23.3% weight loss in a Phase 2 trial, while retatrutide reached up to 25% weight loss in Phase 3 trials for obesity and 23% for Type 2 diabetes. Both drugs target multiple gut hormones to enhance satiety and metabolic effects, positioning them as potential alternatives to existing GLP-1 therapies. Lilly plans to file for retatrutide approval early next year and advance the combination therapy to Phase 3 trials by late 2026.
