Researchers have identified a novel death-derived extracellular vesicle type, F-ApoEVs, that guides the immune system’s cleanup after apoptosis. These 'footprints of death' can be exploited by viruses (e.g., influenza) to hitch a ride to neighboring cells, revealing a new route for viral spread.
