Keith Thomas, paralyzed from the chest down after a 2020 pool accident, regained arm and hand control plus tactile sensation through a double neural bypass that links his brain to arm nerves and uses finger sensors. After 35 weeks of training, arm strength improved 86% on the right and 62% on the left, enabling actions like scratching his nose and gripping objects, and letting him feel things like his dog’s fur.
