North Carolina teen indicted for aiding San Diego mosque shooting via livestream
Sarah Lindsey Santiago, a 17-year-old from North Carolina, has been indicted on three counts of murder and one count of conspiracy for her role in the May 18 attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego. Prosecutors allege she agreed to record the livestream of the shooting, distribute the footage, and publish the attackers' white supremacist manifesto. Although she was not present at the scene, North Carolina law allows for aiding-and-abetting charges that carry the same penalties as the primary offense. Santiago was arrested last week and faces trial as an adult, with her first court appearance scheduled for September 21.
