Publix expands berry recall amid E. coli outbreak tied to GreenWise blueberries
Publix is expanding a recall of frozen berries sold in eight states, including South Carolina, after an FDA/CDC investigation linked E. coli O145 to GreenWise Organic Blueberries from Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. The recall now covers all lots of GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries and adds three more package configurations (10 oz and 48 oz) with specific UPCs (41415-06453, 41415-12053, 41415-06753, 41415-12153). Consumers should discard or return affected products for a full refund. So far, 12 illnesses across two states (May 11–June 5) with four hospitalizations and no deaths have been reported. Publix stopped selling the affected product; FDA/CDC and state partners are investigating; questions should be directed to Publix Customer Care, with CDC updates available online.
