David Gilmour’s Black Strat fetches a record $14.6M at auction
David Gilmour’s 1969 Fender Stratocaster, the so-called Black Strat used on Pink Floyd albums, sold for a record $14.6 million at Christie’s as part of Jim Irsay’s collection auction, far above expectations of $2–3 million. The sale also included other Irsay heir items such as Jerry Garcia’s guitar ($11.6M), Kurt Cobain’s guitar ($6M), John Lennon’s piano ($3.2M), Ringo Starr’s drum set ($2.4M), and Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky script ($508k).
