SF remembers Dannielle Spillman, the 'rockstar grandma' of SoMa
Dannielle Spillman, 74, was killed in a hit‑and‑run at Mission Street and South Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco. Police arrested Valentino Cash Amil, who the district attorney subsequently charged with murder. Spillman was a beloved figure in SF’s music scene—an avid guitarist who shopped at Real Guitars and Guitar Center, enjoyed thrift stores and Rainbow Grocery, and was described by friends as kind, generous, and full of life. A small memorial outside Real Guitars reflected the community’s grief over another random-violence death in the city.
