Former Royal Marine Completes 327-Day Solo Row Across Pacific and Indian Oceans

Dave 'Dinger' Bell, a former Royal Marine from Dorset, has completed a record-breaking solo and unsupported row across the Pacific and Indian Oceans. After 327 days at sea, he arrived in Kilifi, Kenya, having traveled over 15,000 nautical miles. The journey, which began in Peru in November 2025, was undertaken to raise funds for Rock2Recovery, a charity supporting veterans and emergency workers with PTSD. Bell arrived earlier than expected, still possessing 20 days' worth of food, and was greeted by his partner and supporters in Kenya. The feat has raised over £110,000 for the cause and received public recognition from Prince William and Princess Kate.

Hunter Biden unveils LAPTOP memecoin with burn-or-charity dynamics and targeted airdrops

Hunter Biden announced the LAPTOP memecoin, set to launch on Base Layer 2 with a 1 billion supply. 20% will be airdropped (including 2% to TRUMP memecoin losers and 8% to Where's Hunter? subscribers); 10% unlocks at the token generation event via the Phoenix Veritas Foundation, another 10% later at their discretion. 30% is linked to 30 real-world predictions that burn tokens if events occur and donate otherwise, plus 50 million tokens earmarked for charity no matter what. Founders get 30% with six-month lock-up and 24-month vesting; 10% liquidity; 5% foundation treasury. Biden says LAPTOP symbolizes resilience against foes and media, contrasting with Trump’s token. The piece also recalls the laptop controversy and related legal actions.

Sunlit Charity and Sisterhood: Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields

Olivia Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival at Irvine’s Great Park blended pop, rock and activist energy in a one-day, charity‑driven event that celebrated women and the power of art. The 14‑act lineup ranged from Mitski and Chappell Roan to Bikini Kill and Garbage, with Alanis Morissette joining for an ‘Ironic’ duet, Sarah McLachlan performing ‘Angel’ in tribute to Dolly Parton, and Stevie Nicks closing with Landslide; Rodrigo even debuted a protest song, ‘serena joy.’ All artists performed for free, and the festival supported 10 women-focused nonprofits (including Planned Parenthood and the National Domestic Workers Alliance); Rodrigo announced $10 million raised, and Melinda French Gates pledged to match every dollar, bringing the total to $20 million. The day also featured Guerilla Girls art and a spirit of intergenerational mentorship, underscoring a collective vision that music, art and activism can empower women and build community.

Crypto Chief Says Charity Is a Net Negative and Isn’t in His Plan

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong argues philanthropy is a net negative because foundations can be captured by ideology, and he has no plans to start a charity or foundation. He previously joined Warren Buffett/Bill Gates’ Giving Pledge in 2018, closed GiveCrypto in 2023, and left the Giving Pledge in 2024, opting instead for a donor-advised fund to guide giving toward efforts he believes will advance civilization.
