"Discovery of Enigmatic Hieroglyphic Creature Unveils New Species in Iran's Sand Dunes"
Scientists conducting a wildlife survey in Iran's South Khorasan province discovered a new species of lizard, named Eremias graphica or the hieroglyphic racerunner lizard. The lizard has a unique pattern resembling hieroglyphs, with wavy and worm-shaped markings on its body. It is about 7 inches long with a tail twice the length of its body and is mostly beige with darker brown squiggles. The hieroglyphic racerunner lizard lives near desert bushes on sand dunes, using them for shade, shelter, and a source of prey. It has only been found along one road near Tabas city and has genetic divergence from other racerunner lizards.
