Padres' Marinaccio suspended three games for intentional hit on Henderson
MLB suspended Padres reliever Ron Marinaccio for three games for allegedly throwing at Gunnar Henderson with a 94 mph fastball in the ninth inning; Marinaccio has appealed, so the penalty is on hold pending the appeal. Padres manager Craig Stammen was suspended one game and fined after arguing the ejection. Henderson believed the pitch was intentional, but MLB did not accept that explanation. If the suspension stands, San Diego will be short a pitcher for the duration, with bench coach Randy Knorr managing in Stammen’s absence for the series opener.
