Padres edge Cardinals 4-2 as Tatis ends homer drought with go-ahead bloop hit
Fernando Tatis Jr. snapped a homer drought with a 69.4 mph flare that followed Ty France’s game-tying homer, giving the Padres a 3-1 lead before Manny Machado’s eighth-inning insurance shot and a 4-2 victory over the Cardinals at Petco Park. Randy Vásquez worked five innings of one-run ball, Tatis delivered the go-ahead hit, Machado joined the party with his 200th Padre homer, and Mason Miller earned his MLB-leading 12th save as San Diego won seven of his eight starts.
