Ibiza residents reclaim Cala Saladeta beach in protest against overtourism
About 100 residents on Ibiza occupied Cala Saladeta beach to protest overtourism and crowded public spaces, organized by the Ibiza Youth Association. They called for reclaiming beaches and tranquility as tourism drives up housing and living costs, highlighting that 1.2 million tourists visited the island in Q2 2025. The action reflects broader Spain-wide backlash to mass tourism, with local officials saying the island has been a pioneer in combating overcrowding.
