"Former Hong Kong student leaders imprisoned for endorsing police officer knife attack"

Four former student leaders from the University of Hong Kong have been sentenced to two years in prison for inciting people to wound others by praising a man who stabbed a police officer before killing himself in 2021. The motion passed by the student leaders expressed "deep sadness" and appreciated the "sacrifice" of the man. The judge stated that their words were likely to incite hatred against the police, and a lenient sentence would send the wrong message to society. The original charge of advocating terrorism was dropped, and they pleaded guilty to incitement to wound with intent. The national security law imposed by Beijing has been used to prosecute or silence many activists in Hong Kong.

"Pakistani Ex-Cricketer Receives 12-Year Sentence for Inciting Murder of Dutch MP"

Former Pakistani cricketer Khalid Latif has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Dutch court for inciting the murder of anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders. In an online video, Latif offered a reward for Wilders' head after the MP initiated a controversial competition involving cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. Latif, who was convicted in absentia, is unlikely to serve his sentence as Dutch authorities have been unable to question him and have not received cooperation from Pakistan. Wilders has called for Latif's arrest and extradition. The judge stated that Latif's video not only targeted Wilders personally but also attacked the concept of free speech in the Netherlands.
