A new Incogni survey of 1,000 Americans across generations finds that maintaining an online presence increasingly feels like work, with Gen Z the most affected; more than half report posting less or being more selective, and many would quit if privacy concerns, harassment, or political content escalate. The shift reflects growing data-privacy worries and burnout, suggesting users are curating feeds, taking breaks, and prioritizing real-life connections to counter the negative realities of social platforms.
